Agamemnon - Our Mission
We believe that the basic principles of dramatic structure are
as fundamentally sound today as when they were invented by Aristotle
and the ancient Greek playwrights more than two millennia ago. Symbolic
of these beliefs, we chose the name Agamemnon and his Mycenae Mask
as our logo. Agamemnon was the King of Mycenae who launched the
thousand ships to rescue Helen of Troy, and is also the title of
one of the world’s oldest plays, by Aeschylus. A good story well
told. This is the very essence of our mission.
For twenty years these principles, emphasizing story, structure
and character over action or special effects, have enabled us
to create cost-effective entertainment of lasting quality which
appeals to a broad audience and, we trust, will endure the test
of time. We think this is good art as well as good business. We
do not follow trends.
We believe that the emerging digital media are visions of
a much brighter and more exciting future in the entertainment
industry, combining interactive events, digital cinema & distribution,
CD-ROM, direct marketing, film-on-demand direct to your PC and,
of course, the Internet. We also believe that it is important
to be on the cutting edge of technology, but not to get ahead
of the blade. It’s the message, not the medium, and as usual,
Shakespeare said it best:
“The play’s the thing!”
