The Mountain Men (1980, Columbia)

Synopsis

  • Directed by Charlton Heston and Fraser C. Heston. Written by Fraser C. Heston, Andrew Scheinman, Martin Shafer. Starring Charlton Heston, Nick Mancuso, and Kim Basinger.

  • Fur trappers Bill Tyler (Charlton Heston) and Henry Frapp (Brian Keith) are two of the meanest, crabbiest, and sarcastic best friends that ever were. They run into each other every once in a while out on the frontier and end up drinking, bickering and nipping at each other's heels. Most of their time is spent trying to trap fur and stay one step ahead of the local Indian population. Lately, they've been running from the Indians more than ever when they end up with a Chief's squaw who doesn't want to return to her tribe as she's been ill-treated. With the enemy chief less than pleased about his woman running off with these mountain men, he vows to have the trappers' scalps as trophies.
